This study reviewed 66 systematic conservation planning studies across 44 countries and found that stakeholder perspectives were often not fully included. It highlights the importance of stronger landholder and stakeholder engagement in private land conservation planning. Expanding conservation on private land is essential for many countries to achieve global biodiversity and restoration targets. This study reviewed 66 peer-reviewed systematic conservation planning studies across 44 countries and found that stakeholder perspectives were often not fully included. The paper argues that more deliberate integration of landholder and stakeholder perspectives is needed to support effective and enduring conservation on private land, and to foster outcomes that benefit both people and nature.
